Something spicy

Idlis
We have the packet of stuff to make idlis (little fluffy indian dumplings) and now we have the microwave egg poacher which can also be used as an idli steamer.
I think they should be served chat-style with a chick pea and tamarind sauce and yogurt with coriander.
I just need to remember that I want to make them soon.

Saturday night is curry night, but I’m not sure if Idlis will fit the menu. Too labour intensive for a large group?

And not for the faint hearted – or the unappreciative.

Idlis for tea tonight, and pretty excellent they were too. Not sure about the ‘street food’ idea – I suspect our version, with delicious chick pea and tomato curry, yoghurt, tamarind and coriander sauce and toasted coconut, eaten on plates with forks, was something of a fusion of Indian flavours and Western finesse. Or am I in a cultural delusion?
